Success is measured in so many different levels. Let's give ger a chance. I also hope that comparisons between the other idols would stop because it is irrelevant.
Jordin's album is not good. Thats the reason why it isn't doing well. It is by far the weakest album by any Idol winner. It is not American Idol:s fault that it isnt selling, it is the song writers' fault. And I mean Carrie Underwood:s latest album, (the winner from just 2 years ago) is doing amazing, so it is just Jordin, and not AI as a show, that people arent loving.
I disagree Suzy. Jordin's album is quite good, especially 'No Air' and 'Permanent Monday'. Don't confuse low sales with lack of quality.
What do you expect from one hit wonders.
I think Jordin album has several good songs, No Air, One Step At A Time, Permanent Monday. I feel her songs will have lasting power. Jordin is young plus I remember with the other Idol winners their album was out the next day seem like and Jordin waited for 5 months!
I am an AI fan, but I honestly completely forgot about Jordin. She IS young, so time will tell if she's got the talent needed to be successful.
Jordin is obviously a very talented singer! I think that part of the problem is that I don't think most people can relate to a lot of the contestants...mainly the pop artists! If you look at the numbers of who is watching the show...it is families from the heart of the country! Not that it isn't being watched in other places, but I think that the evidence is also in record sales! Look at who some of the most recent and successful idols have been...Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, Bucky Covington, Chris Daughtry and even Josh Gracin from season 2 has put together a nice career! Other than Daughtry...what is the common theme? They are all in Country music! The people that live in the heartland are the ones sitting at home with their families watching American Idol...and what kind of music do you think those people listen to? Country!!! Think about it...other than the 2 coasts...who are people going to relate to more? A young starlet who comes from money because Daddy played in the NFL or someone who may have struggled a bit in life (Pickler) or that all-american small town girl (Underwood)? I hope that Jordin can have a successful career because she seems like a nice girl who has an amazing God-given talent...but without the relateability factor...it will be more of a challenge!
The next big star is Kristy Lee Cook.

Maybe all the winners of American Idol won't go on to big successes, but it certainly is a showcase for talent and has proven great for a lot of the candidates.
